Ava Soesbe

Ava graduated from UCSB in June 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. She is generally interested in evolutionary genetics and genomics, as well as microbial gene regulation. In Professor Yi's lab she is working on extracting genomic DNA from marine invertebrates and constructing genomic libraries, as well as analyzing epigenetic differences between tissues. Her other hobbies include knitting, hiking and reading, as well as rowing; she was on the rowing team for all four years of undergrad UCSB, and was part of the crew that won a national championship in 2019.
